Professional Bio
Jane Fisher is Finkel Professor of Global Health in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University, Melbourne Australia. Jane Fisher, an academic Clinical and Health Psychologist is Finkel Professor of Global Health in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. She is Co-Director of the Division of Planetary Health and leads the multidisciplinary Global and Women’s Health group of academics, research higher degree students and professional staff who undertake research in Australia and low- and middle-income countries. Jane Fisher has longstanding interests in the social determinants, of women’s health and wellbeing across the life course and of how these can be addressed in public health approaches to health promotion, including mental health promotion. She maintains sessional clinical practice at Masada Private Hospital Early Parenting Centre. In 2017, she was awarded the Marcé Medal, by the Australasian Marcé Society for Perinatal Mental Health for having made an extraordinary contribution to expert knowledge in the field of perinatal mental health through research, clinical practice, teaching, and mentorship. Jane Fisher was appointed Officer in the Order of Australia in the January 2019 Australia Day Honours for her contributions to perinatal mental health, women, and the community.
